Our New Initiatives programme is all about pushing the envelope and looking outside the square for partnerships, collaborations and joint ventures all aimed at making community participation and paid employment real options for our people.
We have an ability to work with members of the deaf community as we have a fully qualified interpreter on staff. One of the new options we are working on with her input, is allowing our people to access computers and the internet to do all the official stuff that more and more government departments are requiring now. She will also be able to interpret any ‘over the top’ or regular communications that may present another hurdle for our people to climb over. This workshop is called AIMS (Accessing Information Made Simple). We are also looking to partner up with community organisations that would not normally be involved with disability to make the journey for our people to engage in their wider community less complex and much more holistic.
